GADCHIROLI POLICE ARRESTS TWO HARDCORE FEMALE MAOISTS AND ONE JAN MILITIA CARRYING RS. 5.50 LAKHS REWARD

• Government of Maharashtra had announced a total reward of Rs. 5.50 lakhs for their arrest.

GADCHIROLI–CPI (Maoists) are observing their Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign from February to May 2024. During this TCOC period in which various violent incidents against security forces are being planned in the backdrop of the upcoming Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, Gadchiroli Police has arrested two active female Maoists involved in several violent incidents against security forces, as well as one Jan Militia member who was involved in the murder of a Police Patil in Titola Village in November 2023. They all have been apprehended on April 7, 2024.

With the objective of conducting disruptive activities and to conduct recci of movement of security forces on the eve of the upcoming General Elections 2024, information was recieved that two female Maoists, namely 1) Kajal alias Sindhu Gawade, 28Y, R/o Kachler, Teh:- Etapalli, Distt:- Gadchiroli, and 2) Geeta alias Sukli Korcha, 31Y, R/o Ramantola, Teh:- Etapalli, Distt.- Gadchiroli were roaming suspiciously in the dense forests of Mouza Javeli under justification of P.S. Pipali Burgi on Gadchiroli- Kanker Border. Based on confidential information received, immediately a joint team of C-60 personnel, Pipali Burgi Post Party and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) G-192 Battalion was launched who apprehended them while conducting the area search . Further investigation revealed that in the year 2020, in the Koparshi-Poyarkoti forest area, they were directly involved in planning ambush and an exchange of fire between the Police and Maoists in which an officer and men of C60 had attained martyrdom. Accordingly, they have been arrested today in connection with crime no. 19/2020 registered at PS Bhamragadh U/s 302, 307, 353, 332, 143, 147, 148, 149, 120 (b) of the IPC, 5/27, 5/28 of the Indian Armed Act, and Sec 3/4 of the Indian Explosive Act.

In the previous year, in 2023, Police Patil of Titoda village was murdered in Titola Pamajiguda forest area in November 2023. The accused, a Jan Militia member named Pisa Pandu Narote, resident of Zarewada, Tehsil Etapalli, Dist. Gadchiroli, was on the run since the incident. Based on a confidential information received, that the accused is hiding in Gilanguda forest area patch, personnel’s from Gatta (Ja.) Post Party and the Central Reserve Police Force E-191 Battalion conducted a special operation immediately and the accused was apprehended from that area and is being arrested in connection with crime no. 76/2023 registered at PS Etapalli charged U/s 302, 364, 143, 147, 148, 149, 120 (b) of IPC, and sections 3/25 Indian Armed Act and 135 of the MPA.
Information about the Arrested female Maoist:

1. Name: Kajal @ Sindhu Gawade

 Tenure in Maoist Organization:

 In 2012, she was recruited as a member of Platoon No. 55 and worked 2019.
 In 2019, she was transferred to Coy. No. 4 and worked as a member till 2020.
 Since 2020, she has been working as a member of the DVC (Divisional Committee) Staff Team/Press Team till date.

 Offences committed by her

 In 2019, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Narkasa forest area.
 In 2019, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Darachi Sindesur forest area.
 In 2019, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Bodhintola forest area.
 In 2020, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Kisneli mountain forest area.
 In 2021, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Fulkodo forest area.
 In 2021, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Khobramendha forest area.
 In 2021, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Morchul forest area.

• Others – 02

 In 2019, she was directly involved in planting IED in Mauja Kaneli forest area.
 In 2019, she was directly involved in planting IED in Puser Sakhardev forest area.

2. Name: Geeta @ Sukli Korcha

 Tenure in Maoist Organization:

 In 2018, she was recruited as a member of Bhamragadh LOS and worked till Sept. 2020.
 In Sept. 2020, she was transferred to Maad area and worked as a member till.

 Offences committed during her tenure:

• Encounters – 03

 In 2019, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Morometta – Nelgunda forest area.
 In 2020, she was involved in planning an ambush and an exchange of fire with Police in the Koparshi – Poyarkoti forest area. In this exchange of fire one officer and one men of C60 were martyred.
 In 2021, she was involved in an exchange of fire with Police in the Koparshi forest area.

• Murder – 02

 In 2020, she was directly involved in the murder of a policemen at Kothi.
 In 2021, she was involved in the murder of an innocent person on the road from Kothi to Bhamragadh.

3. Jan Militia Name: Pisa Pandu Narote

 Tenure in Maoist Organization:

• Since 2018, he has been living in the village as Jan militia. His tasks included bringing rations to the Maoists, performing sentry duty, hiding the Maoists’ weapons in secure locations, providing information to the Maoists through reconnaissance about police movements, distributing Maoist pamphlets to the public, and undertaking other subversive activities.

• Since 2021, he has worked as a Jan Militia Commander.

 Offences committed during his tenure:

• Murder – 03

 In 2022, he was involved in the murder of an innocent civilian of Zarewada.
 In 2022, he was involved in the murder of an innocent civilian of Gorgutta.
 In 2023, he was involved in the murder of a Police Patil of Titoda village on the road from Titoda to Pamajiguda.

• Other – 01

 During the Loksabha General Election 2019, he assisted the Maoists in planting explosives in the village of Mauja Titoda.

 Rewards on above arrests:

 Government of Maharashtra had announced a reward of Rs. 02 lakhs for Kajal alias Sindhu Gawade arrest.
 Government of Maharashtra had announced a reward of Rs. 02 lakhs for Geeta alias Sukli Korcha arrest.
 Government of Maharashtra had announced a reward of Rs. 1.5 lakhs for Pisa Pandu Narote arrest.

Due to the intensified operations conducted by the Gadchiroli Police, a total of 77 hardcore Maoists have been arrested since January 2022. This action was undertaken under the guidance of Shri. Neelotpal, Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli, Shri. Yatish Deshmukh, Addl. Supdt. Of Police (Ops.), Shri. Kumar Chintha, Addl. Supdt. Of Police (Admin.), Shri. M. Ramesh, Addl. Supdt. Of Police, Aheri and Officer Commanding E/191 Mohit Kumar AC, G-192 Dipak Das AC, PSI Chetan Pardeshi, Incharge of PS Gatta (Ja.), PSI Vaibhav Rupvate, Incharge of PS Pipali Burgi and C-60 personnel. Furthermore, Shri. Neelotpal, SP Gadchiroli, has appealed to active Maoist cadres to renounce the path of violence and surrender in order to live their lives with dignity.
